I started my own OSP business because I wanted flexibility.
I wanted to create a way that I could earn serious corporate level income, without sacrificing being home with my kids.
So how did I get into it?
Well, I have 3 children and life is full! I was working as a scientist, where the income was great but the freedom was non-existent and I wanted it to change. I was sick of missing the kids' milestones, being late for pick ups, and generally fed up with relying on childcare so much.
I have a good friend who is successful in network marketing and works around her kids, so I jumped in to start my own business when I was on maternity leave.
Here’s What Happened
After a year, I built the business to be turning over 6 figures annually in product sales.
I was asked to train people globally, on the skills in networking, social media content and sales and I earned incentives and awards.
I had learned so much in my business and had proven success with my methods but I was ready to create something on my terms.
I didn’t want to be under the umbrella of another company and so I was introduced to the world of online service providers and coaches.
I quit my corporate job, had a fantastic income, but...
After 4 years of this...
I stopped.
And The Virtual Vibe
was born
But I had so many limiting beliefs…
“No one wants to hire you. No one has money right now.”
“Why would they hire me? Everyone else is better, more experienced…”
“If you fail, you’ll look stupid. Imagine what people will think.”
“It’s not going to work out, you don’t have enough experience.”
“There are too many people doing what you’re doing and not enough clients - the market is saturated.”
But none of these things turned out to be true.
And if I had listened to these thoughts, I wouldn’t be where I am today.
One week after starting my business,
I had my first enquiry with just 5 Instagram followers.
One month after starting my business,
I was a fully booked Online Service Provider.
But the story doesn’t end there…
Remember that vision of freedom and flexibility which inspired me to start my own business?
Despite an incredible start to The Virtual Vibe, my business wasn’t serving me and my family in the way I needed it to…
I set up my business because I wanted more freedom to spend time with my kids…
And sure, maybe I was working from home rather than an office, but I was spending even more hours stuck at my desk (or glued to my phone at any other time).
I knew my work was worth way more than the disappointing income I was making…
But I was constantly attracting clients who would haggle and push me down on my prices, leaving me scared to charge what I wanted because I thought I’d lose all my clients.
I’d sold literally every hour possible in my schedule to maximise my income…
And as a result, all my time and energy was spent on delivering work to clients, with nothing left over for me to channel into building the business of my dreams.
I knew something needed to change - and I needed the help to make it happen.
I was drowning trying to keep up with my clients, marketing my business, and being there for my family.
So I took the plunge and invested in support from a coach…
And it skyrocketed my progress faster than I knew was possible.
I sold out a brand new offer just 5 days after launching it, and I hit my first ever £8k month.
I switched from time-based to deliverables-based packages, and stopped trading hours for money.
I started attracting my dream aligned clients who treated me like an authority, not an assistant.
But those incredible achievements alone weren’t enough.
Because even though I’d smashed my income goals out of the park, and even though I was doing work I loved for dream clients who were exactly my vibe…
I was still struggling to find enough hours in the day to keep up with launching new offers and promoting my packages.
I was constantly…
I was feeling burnt out AF, and like I needed 6 months off to…
The problem was that I’d been following other people’s rules about how to run a successful online business — and trying to force myself into rigid boxes about how I “should” be…XYZ.
And I wasn’t alone in my experience — I was seeing my friends with businesses and industry peers go through the exact same thing.
I realised that success doesn’t only come from applying powerful strategies.
It comes from…
Alignment
The moment I’d stopped worrying about fitting in with the other service providers in my industry, stopped focusing on replicating other coaches’ models for success…
That was when I had my biggest successes in my business.
That’s exactly why when clients come to me, I teach them how to apply my methods in a way that’s aligned to them, rather than telling them to copy my exact business model, step by step.
Because I’ve been inside my fair share of group coaching programmes where I didn’t like the methods I was being taught (hello cold DMing hundreds of accounts a week 😭😤)
Or I’ve simply felt like I didn’t fit in because my version of freedom looked so different from everyone else inside the programme (it’s not about working by the beach in Bali for me, it’s about having more quality time with my kids!)
There’s no one-size-fits-all method for building a successful business.
And I’ll never try to convince you otherwise.
